georgia bowen

Georgia graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) from The University of Sydney in April. Georgia has worked on community development projects in Costa Rica and Bolivia.  In early 2007, Georgia spent 3 months in Kenya with Amber to conduct research for their thesis.  She participated in Global Studio Johannesburg in July 2007 and presented at the People Building Better Cities conference.  Georgia is passionate about community driven design and the social value of Architecture.


kirstin hume-grimm

Kirstin graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Sydney in April.  Kirstin is an avid traveller.  She spent 3 months living in Argentina and studying at The University of Buenos Aires.  Kirstin has worked in a number of architectural firms and is thrilled to be designing alongside the Katolo community.

CC graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Sydney in April.  CC spent her childhood in Brunei and completed her secondary education in Sydney.  CC is interested in different cultures and languages, she speaks French, Chinese and Malay.  She believes in the potential for sustainable architecture to positively influence the built environment.

Amber graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) from The University of Sydney in April.  Amber lived in rural Kenya in 2005 whilst working on sustainable income-generating community projects.  She returned with Georgia in 2007 to conduct research for their thesis.  Amber’s love and passion for Kenya has inspired bricks + cartwheels to work in Kenya. 


harriet stone

Harriet graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Sydney in April.  Harriet grew up in rural NSW, which has instilled in her a strong sense of community and appreciation for the environment.  She has travelled extensively in Europe and worked in architectural firms in South Africa.  Harriet has a keen interest in the arts and community design and is excited to immerse herself in another African culture.

yuri leong

Yuri graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture at The University of Sydney in April.  Having hiked and explored extensively around Australia, Europe and Asia, she is a keen traveller and photographer with strong interests in nature and different cultures.  Yuri believes that the built environment should enhance the surrounding nature and landscape and is thrilled to be able to be part of this exciting project.

felicity wabitsch

Felicity graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture at The University of Sydney in April.  Felicity grew up in Sydney and has travelled extensively throughout Australia, spending two months travelling through central Australia and visiting remote communities.  Felicity is interested in different cultures and languages, which has stemmed from a strong relationship with her extended family living in Northern Italy.  She understands and can speak a little Italian and French.  Felicity is currently working with an architectural firm in Surry Hills and is looking forward to contribute to the development of this sustainable project.

nathan wrightson

Originally hailing from Aotearoa, New Zealand, Nathan completed a Bachelor of Architectural Studies at The University of Auckland before moving to Sydney in late 2004.  Since then he has worked in a number of architectural practices and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture at The University of Sydney in April.  Growing up in the wilds of beautiful New Zealand has instilled in Nathan a keen sense of adventure, grounded by inherent Kiwi practicality, which he is enthusiastic about applying to all facets of the project.

Katie has completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney and currently works as a producer and presenter in the radio broadcast industry.  She has travelled extensively and recently spent 7 months writing and living in Italy.  Her passion for both media and communications and community causes inspired her to become involved with the bricks + cartwheels team.  With no architecture experience behind her, Katie is excited to bring an outside perspective to such an important organisation.

gemma lush

Gemma is halfway through a Bachelor of Design at UNSW College of Fine Arts.  Gemma lived abroad for a year before commencing her degree and can’t wait to travel to Kenya and visit the people and places that the b+c team rave about!  She lends her skills and experience in graphic design and visual communications to bricks + cartwheels.

zoe brauer

Zoe has completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws at Macquarie University and is currently working in the Media and Telecommunications team of one of Australia's leading law firms.  Her greatest passion is travel and she has also spent time living in France and the United Kingdom.  Zoe provides assistance to the bricks + cartwheels team with legal research and grants writing and is thrilled to be involved in such an amazing and important project.

alister houghton

Alister has recently completed a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) at The University of Sydney.  He works part time for a small Architectural office in Sydney as well as teaching Design Computing at TAFE.  A keen traveller, Alister has spent two months working with a number of communities in Vietnam in 2006.  He joined the bricks + cartwheels team a short time after its conception with the hope of employing his architectural training for the benefit of the Katolo community.
